Soggy Horror Spoopfest '24 hotfix 1 is out

The first hotfix of 2.2 is out. I am still going to make several more adjustments later this week before I proceed forward with the end-of-the-year update. Still, I managed to squeeze out some changes I felt were important to stick with the difficulty set out for Spoopfest '24 but put things a bit more in player's favor by offering save game support at any point (Note that the game does NOT pause when you open your inventory or hit escape. So you really ought to try to save in a safe area not to shoot yourself in the foot) and shaving down rough edges with Thorn and some bad item descriptions.

---Change log---

- Save Game support added.

-Thorn's awareness and speed nerfed while Maddie's buffed.

-Thorn & Maddie's attack damage reduced slightly.

-Bad item descriptions corrected

-new wallpaper for the unicorn room and 2nd common key placement

-HP items give slightly more health and are a little more common in the main mansion area.

-lighter effectivity nearly doubled and auto equips and hotkeys by default. lantern and candle slightly buffed. Flashlight and camcorder unchanged for now.

Note that I am very likely to make further adjustment later this week and I am going to adjust Thorn's AI so she backs off on her own when stared at long enough but I wanted to get this patch out in a timely manner so that will have to wait till the 2nd hotfix.

This build is free however purchases to the game help tremendously on both it's development, voice and art assets.

Heya. I made a mistake. I accidentally bought you game twice. could you refund me 10 USD please?

Also...i noticed that i cannot ignite candles for some reason. Like...i have been pressing the button and nothing happens AT ALL.

hello, you need to contact itch.io support to best resolve the duplicate purchase. You can send them a screen shot of this message to prove my approval.

As for lighting candles you need a lighter in your inventory and you need to hold down the use key till it lights.

Thanks for the hlp :3

On an other note...i wanna ask you for help. I wanna make my own ABDL themed game. Can you recommend any good tutorials or places where i can learn? My game idea is a ABDL stealth game inspired by Aragami and the plot of the sunny paws daycare Textadventure game. If possible...could we even work togeher?

I would advice against going full 3D for your first major game project. Personally, I would start with a simple 2d or text based project that doesn't require a heavy artistic workload and treat it strictly as a learning experience.

You should also never get in the habit of comparing yourself to others and do things strictly for the love of the craft and growing.

Good and proven game engines suited for beginners and hobbyist are godot, unity, game maker 2 and quest. Don't bother worrying about the current community reputation of the engines as they are simply tools at the end of the day and the first 3 engines have frameworks and 3rd party tools you can work with to finish your project.

Don't be afraid of following youtube and udemy tutorials carefully when you are figuring out the ropes and always put what you learn to use even if you find it boring and tedious at the time as it will pay off when inspiration hits.

Also, don't fall into the trap of worrying about how much or how little you are getting exposed online . People that obsess over that are generally make themselves miserable.

Thanks for the advice :3

I already started on a quest version of my game. I also know a few people who would help me with the artistic aspect of the game. And even so...there are enough finished 3D models for blender both free or need a small pay, as well as many tutorials wich i can follow. Same goes when i have to programm the game :3

But i am still a bloody beginner. I plan on first finishing my reeducation and establish myself in the IT work-world, before i start working on my first 3D game.

Also...i dont really worry about the whole "is my game getting enough exposure" thing. I do this for fun and to make a fun game for the ABDL Diaper-fur community. I dont really seek big money from this. All i want is to make people smile

Heya. I hoped to ask you something. What Model did you use for the diapers? i am looking for a diaper model das also can show off, when the diaper is full like in you game Shemmys quest. Possibly with a small animation of the diaper swelling when its being used. I am currently looking where i can get 3D models for my game and the hardest is a good model for diapers. If you made it yourself then i will credit you of course.

I know you said i shouldnt go full 3D just yet. But i have been watching tutorials and i have learned some things already thanks to the tutorials.

Going 3d for your first few projects is fine if you keep the scope very limited. If memory serves the FNAF guy picked up fusion and did a very simple game to  showcase his janky models before someone suggested he try to do a horror game.

If you don't have a programming background its best you stick with visual scripting and keep your game designs very simple as you get the workflow down. Good projects getting started early with 3d are visual novel games that follow a point a to b with some player choices sprinkled in.

I use 3 different diaper meshes. The one seen in most renders and games is a heavy modified cushy+ https://puddlegum.gumroad.com the puddlegums models are the best ones you can buy at the moments.

unfortunately, I can't get saves to work still. I load in to a flat black screen, but I can hear things going on around me

what area did you save at? was it the 2nd area with the pig and lynx character or the 3rd area with the cow character? Both of those areas are getting polished next update and I would like to hammer out any black screen load bug.

first area, actually. I tested it in a couple places and crashed this way repeatably saving anywhere in the first area

Oof, I do intend to stress test it more strictly in the near future and I really appreciate you bringing it to my attention.

hey its fine! Im happy to help out with this!

It's not showing up to download, just brings up the 2.1 version

check under demo or get it off the build archive. It's not going to show up where 2.1 is due to how itch.io organizes downloads.

Do you mean the "old build archive" that with the bundle

Nvm, found it 😅

definetly nice to have saves back, the game finaly feels like not on hard mode, tho not sure if it's because of new build, but in the room between the mansion and Lab when I picked up the paper to read it, the wall with bear girl picture on it dissapeared and later as I came back to the room I fell off the map, but other than that the hotfix feels nice and the rooms being a bit more distinct is definetly a nice touch, also stuff I noted in previous version was that the whole thorn gimmick of her being frozen for a short period of time when she's not messy feels pretty anxious because you can't really tell if it's triggered or not until you look back at her but that's all problems I have with it, oh and the maze minigame is a nice idea tho I had some hope's that if the ball fell into the wrong hole with the picture of Rea messing herself next to it the Animation from the Preview of her messing herself would play
