Soggy Horror Alpha 2.3 Dev Test build 1 is up.


Hey there,

The first dev test build for alpha 2.3 has been released for everyone who picked up the game. This test build focuses on the game's recent shader, physics, localization lighting overhaul.  Since I am well aware how it looked last update I decided to use the Halloween 2024 mansion as the testing ground. The test does tease the replacement hostile for Thorn on that map as she gets AI tweaks and balance changes. Eventually, the player will get to decide at the start who their primary stalker will be on that map. I will likely release a second dev test build around the 9th or 10th after we are done with the next test build. I will include additional test maps when that build hits.

---Change log---

New shader set for just about all of the game's materials. Graphics are noticeably better without a real performance hit.

The game finally uses a healthy combination of baked and real-time lighting now that it has been updated to the latest version of Bakery for light baking. Thanks to this, there is far less of a performance fps hit than 2.2. Prior to this upgrade large scenes could take 3 hours to bake and results were often disappointing.

Save System is now a lot less janky than it was in 2.2 and now allows you to have as many saves as you want and delete them from within the save menu.

Localization System has been expanded on and is far less of a headache to deal with.

Minor layout changes to the first area of the mansion with a few new images.

Updated movement crinkle sfx that changes based on the surface you are on and if you landed from a jump.

Mina added as a friendly NPC.

New HScene animation with Bella and Rea. Unfortunately, it has been temporarily disabled this dev test due to a built-in camera system upgrade causing a few annoying issues in that end scene.


---Known Issues with test build 1---

Obvious clipping issues with Charlene's onesie and Maddie's skirt when they have an accident. Just requires shape key corrections and a reimport.

Hillarious bad rotation bug on that trap door within the lap that leads to that vent you are forced to crawl in.

Bad item names such as baby powder being labeled as a diaper. Oops!

Some gaps in level geometry especially when in the labs which is currently getting reworked.

Lower quality than usual lighting bake in the mansion and some bad settings on some objects causing some lighting issues such as the issue on the potty poster in the image seen below.

Would it be possible for the next update/dev build to add Ginny like you did with the other cultists? 

Also, I note that with Maddie it occasionally multiplies (?), the fact is that there were two Maddies, the standing  one and another that was moving but she was overlaid on the standing one

Oh, Ginny (The Tiger character) currently has two appearances in the mansion. You can see her in the director's room at the lab in area 2 and right before you take the super happy fun slide at area 3. I'm not sure why Maddie (The bear character) is multiplying for you. Did she do that in area 1 or area 3 in the pink nursery?

Yeah, I noticed her appearances on the map, but I meant that if it were possible that she is in an accessible place, like Bella, Thorn or Maddie for example, where you can interact with her like change her diaper, you know, please 👉👈

It happened to me in area 1, maybe it was just once but just in case I'll let you know about it

ah I can do that with limited interactivity with the old  system that is acting as a placeholder while I work on animation and code for that to be properly fleshed out.
