Soggy Horror June Devlog

Hey all,

I just did some finishing touches on a commission model and a prop for Soggy Horror that will probably be first used in 1.3. I am still focusing on building up assets and working on the graphical end for the Soggy Horror codebase so I can have a nice Alpha 2 update when Halloween time rolls around.

As you can see from the preview image I have a new cinematic model base that uses a fur shader that I created. It's based on Ruaidri's and MaxNoWard's excellent work. This model base will be used for Rea (The red fox protag), Pearl (The Fennec), and Thorn (The black BDSM wolf). Additionally, I have updated the cinematic Bella model with said shader and additional rig improvements. These models are too expensive for 60fps gameplay so they will be strictly used for story and fail cutscenes in the future.

I do want to include a bit more of the assets with the 1.2 update that has been delayed multiple times due to feature creep. I did this because it would be a waste of our time and my player base if I prioritized an unpolished and content-light build every other month when I need to be focusing on making sure I have a good codebase and collection of game ready assets for the next big build.

I am now aiming for a demo of 1.2 this early July as I am working on a few additional images with my collaborators that draw and offer their creative insight on the side.  Per usual, these images will eventually get a timed release with web resolution. I will not be opening a Patreon account to fund my side endeavors as it would personally destroy my motivation with just how I am wired. I will instead do a Summer art pack and do a month-long price cut to the base game for those that would like to gain permeant access to Soggy Horror and all of its updates. This includes the three slated updates this year for July (1.2) and August (1.3) and October(2.0).

Alpha 2 will be released this Halloween. So far the AI, inventory management code, quest system, UI, and save system has been rewritten as well as new character movement options. I won't be touching up the lacking alpha 1 codebase for its two upcoming updates as that would be counter-productive in the long run. In addition to this, I want to add heavily interactive areas that focus more on exploration and experimentation rather than horror elements and I want to make the game more open so that players can approach it to best suit them. Per tradition, I will do a free Halloween build with the majority of the new content for those that aren't invested in Soggy Horror or hurting for cash.

Honestly the first of two Summer updates might slip July. I am not happy with several of the animations and I have been getting called in for favors before my end of July training for my main job.  I am still on schedule for a really nice Halloween update.

Ahhhhhh. Damn, that sucks. But its understandable

Cool, really can't wait so hurry please lol.  Had a lot of fun poking at the other two builds from time to time.

Build when?

exicted to see this keep going!
To make sure I have it right, i have bought the game already, so I will get ALL future updates?
Also a feature request, "cheats"
I wanted to explore a bit but kept dying, ended up using cheat engine to force HP at 100 always, but, that needs to be redone each time I reload, would be nice to have somthign like that built in.

Yup all the updates. When I get around to an easymode it won't be sonething low effort like infanite HP. It would just be cheat equipment that max out your stats and makes submitting enemies to be a breaze

alright! good to know! Thanks!
